JCC Women Open Season Sunday
The Jamestown Community College women’s soccer team will look to hit the ground running during the 2021 season under the new regime of Interim Head Coach Tyler Beaton.
“I’m excited for our team this season,” Beaton said. “The team has been coming little by little throughout the preseason and we’re excited to put it all together out on the field.”
The Jayhawks will be returning two players from the 2019 team in Anna Burt (Jamestown/Jamestown HS) and WNYAC All-Team selection Hannah Sholl (Jamestown/Southwestern High). Beaton will look to them for the leadership on the field with the experience they possess.
“Hannah and Anna have laid a trustworthy foundation for us,” said Beaton. “They know what it takes to compete at this level and will help their teammates with that process throughout the season.”
Beaton will look also look to Jaclyn Bush (Jamestown/Jamestown HS) and Yuribeth Castro (Dunkirk/Dunkirk HS) to mature quickly as the season progresses.
“Jaclyn and Yuribeth have be tremendous assets for us,” Beaton added. “They bring a second year maturity and work ethic to our squad.”
Beaton also pointed out that the additions of Lizzie Gordon (Corry, PA/Corry Area HS), Kylie Keefe (Mayville/Chautauqua Lake Central), Alexa Swanson (Jamestown/Jamestown HS), and Holly Isaacson (Jamestown/Jamestown HS) helped round out the team and compete at a high level.
Beaton added that his assistant coach Courtney Hewes has been vital to everyone preparation for the new look Jayhawks women’s soccer program.
The Jayhawks will open the season at home this Sunday, September 5th, as they welcome Columbia-Greene for a 1 p.m. match. From there, JCC will play three matches on the road before returning home to play Corning and Niagara County on September 18th & 19th.
JCC will then go back on the road for the next four games with their next home match coming on October 9th against SUNY Broome at Falconer High School. The Jayhawks will finish the regular season schedule with a home match against Genesee on October 13th and a road contest against North Country on October 16th.
“I just want to thank all these women student-athletes for choosing JCC,” Beaton said. “I know it has been some time since some of these players have competed but I’m excited to see what they can do.
