Trojans Post Baseball Victory Over Maple Grove

BEMUS POINT — Southwestern improved to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in Division 1 West play after blanking host Maple Grove (2-2, 2-2), 12-0.
Cole Snyder threw all seven innings of two-hit, six-strikeout ball for the Trojans and added two singles, an RBI and three stolen bases for good measure.
Nate Johnson belted two triples in the win with an RBI, and Mitch Pascarella had two doubles and two RBIs.
Easton Tanner hurled five innings, striking out two and relinquishing four runs for Maple Grove. Zak Trim had both hits for the Red Dragons in defeat.

SOUTH DAYTON — Tim Wright hit a two-run single during a nine-run fourth inning as Frewsburg pulled away from Pine Valley for a 15-4 CCAA Division 2 East victory.
Nick Marsh and Tommy Rhodes walked ahead of Jack Yost’s single to load the bases with no outs in the Bears’ half of the fourth. Nolan Brink was then hit by a pitch to force in a run before Reid Bjork’s bloop single to right made it 4-1. Aaron Hair then grounded out to bring in Frewsburg’s fifth run before Mark Mammoser walked to load the bases again. Trent Gray walked to force in another run ahead of Wright’s two-run single. Marsh singled to bring home another run before Rhodes reached on an error and Yost grounded out to make it 10-1. Marsh later scored on a wild pitch to cap the inning
Wright finished with three hits and three RBIs; Bjork had two hits and three RBIs; Gray and Marsh each had two hits, with one of Marsh’s being a double, and two RBIs; and Hair had two hits, including a double, and an RBI for the Bears (6-1, 2-1).
Hair earned the win on the mound, throwing five innings of five-hit, three-run ball, striking out six and walking four while hitting two batters. Bjork threw the final two innings, striking out four while allowing two hits and a run.
Dakota Loop had three hits, including a double, and Trent Mihalko tripled while Ricky Johnston drove in three runs for the Panthers (1-2, 0-2).

SILVER CREEK PREVAILS
FALCONER — Alex Bogosian drove in four runs with a double and a triple as Silver Creek (1-3, 1-4) defeated Falconer (0-3, 0-4), 14-3, in non-league action.
Sam Mullen had three hits with a triple, Jon Hover had three hits with two doubles and Spencer Hartford drove in four runs with a pair of singles in the win.
Zack Rybak went four innings and struck out seven and walked three in picking up the win.
For Falconer, Ben Schrader drove in two runs with a pair of singles and Bob Samuelson also had two hits.

CVCS DOWNS WESTFIELD
SINCLAIRVILLE — Anthony Rodriguez and Chase McIntyre led the way with three hits each as Cassadaga Valley (1-0, 1-3) beat Westfield, 15-5, in Division 2 West action.
One of Rodriguez’s hits was a double while Brandon Rodriguez and Conner Crabtree each had two hits for the winners.
Matt See had double for Westfield off winning pitcher Adam Goot, who fanned six and walked five.

PANAMA — Ryan Joslyn pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts and six walks as Panama (1-1) stopped Sherman, 13-1, in a game called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.
Joslyn also came through with two hits with one being an RBI double. Braden Cook swung the biggest bat with hits for the Panthers.
Jevan Newman had two singles and two RBIs and Tom Delahoy added two more hits with two-run double in the third inning.
Caleb Burick and Keith Gormley had the singles in vain.
GOWANDA
DEFEATS RANDOLPH
RANDOLPH — Andrew Kruszka went 3-for-5 with a triple and two RBIs and Matt Smuda had a two-run double in the five-run third inning as Gowanda (1-1) defeated Randolph (2-2), 11-5 in non-league action.
Olson had two hits and two runs scored for the Panthers.
Isaac Hind had two hits with a double, Dakota Donaldson drove in three runs with a single and a double, and Mason Pagett drilled two hits for the hosts.
T’WOLVES FALL
CATTARAUGUS — Anthony Novoa of North Collins (2-0, 5-0) and Austin Baker of Cattaraugus-Little Valley (0-1, 2-1) were involved in pitching duel that saw Novoa come out on top, 3-1, in the Division 2 East battle.
Novoa limited Cattaraugus-Little Valley to five hits with three strikeouts and three walks. Meanwhile, Baker held North Collins to three hits with four strikeouts and one walk.
Nick Savidga singled in the lone C-LV run in the sixth inning.
FRANKLINVILLE WINS
FRANKLINVILLE — Franklinville (3-0, 1-0) was able to sneak out a 5-4 Division 2 East win over Ellicottville when Ben Mooney was able to execute a safety squeeze to drive home Jake Peters from third base in the eighth inning.
Brock Blecha cracked a two-run homer in the third and hit a single for the winners while fanning 12 with no walks in five innings of work on the hill.
Isaac Kopp finished things out for Franklinville, striking out a pair, while Mooney added two singles with two RBIs.
Austin Grinols picked up two hits and two RBIs for Ellicottville, while Hunter O’Striker did the same at the plate in defeat.
Griffin Chudy fanned seven, and walked two in five innings of work before Frank Neff finished things off, striking out three and walking three.
SOFTBALL
LADY TROJANS
DOWN DRAGONS
BEMUS POINT — Southwestern (1-3, 1-2) posted a 6-1 win over Maple Grove (0-3, 0-3) in CCAA Division 1 West softball action on behind an RBI double from Erin Radack and another double by Alanna Dibble.
Samicka Mathews cracked two singles in the win while Sophia Genareo fanned four and walked four and Ashton Beckerink fanned three and walked one for Southwestern.
The pair combined on a two-hitter.
Lynne Nordine struck out four in a complete-game performance for Maple Grove.
COUGARS HOLD ON
SINCLAIRVILLE — After the Cassadaga Valley Lady Cougars softball team was up 8-1 in the third inning, the Brocton Lady Bulldogs were able to bring the tying run up to the plate in the seventh inning. But Brittyn LeBaron was able to end the threat with a strikeout while a runner was on second base to preserve a thrilling 8-6 win for the Lady Cougars in CCAA West 2 action.
LeBaron pitched the complete game for the Cougars (4-0, 1-0), giving up six runs on nine hits while striking out five.
Megan Gloss pitched great in defeat as she gave up nine hits and three walks while striking out six.
The Lady Cougars were led offensively by LeBaron’s two singles and four RBIs. Rearick and Ruiz also had a multi-hit game. Edwards came through with a double while Jewelee Schauman and Nickerson each had a single.
Jenelle Grigelevich, Julie Smith and Gloss each had two hits for the Bulldogs (3-3, 1-2) with Gloss and Smith having a double.
CARDINALS ROLL
RANDOLPH — Nikole Lockwood and Amy Mansfield had three hits each as Randolph (1-0, 3-5) downed Gowanda (1-2, 3-5), 18-3, in Division 1 East action.
Lavani Johnson, Savannah Rhodes and Kira Lewis added two hits in the winning attack.
Mansfield struck out eight and walked one while giving up 10 hits.
For Gowanda, MacKenzie Carroll had three hits, Rachael Riley added two hits and Adrianna Heary had an RBI double.
CARLSON, YOST
LEAD BEARS
SOUTH DAYTON — Frewsburg (2-3, 2-0) was able to pick up an 11-4 Division 2 East win over host Pine Valley (2-3, 0-2) behind home runs from Ashley Carlson and Peyton Yost.
Kiah Johnson added a double, a single and scored three runs for the winners while Regan Chitester had two singles.
MaKena Adams struck out nine, walked one and gave up two hits through five innings before Riley Chitester entered for Frewsburg and fanned four in two innings of work.
Kaylee Crisanti struck out three in five innings in the circle for Pine Valley.
PANTHERS BREEZE
PANAMA — Kailyn Harvey pitched a masterful game as Panama (1-1) downed Sherman (1-1), 26-2, in a Division 2 West game.
Harvey allowed only one hit while fanning 13 for Panama. The lone hit by Rowan came in the top of the seventh inning.
Madalyn Bowen plated three runs with three hits and three RBIs, Marra Hovey also had three hits, Harvey contributed two doubles and Maci Johnson added an RBI triple in the win.
OSTRYE SHINES
FOR HORNETS
FORESTVILLE — Brooke Ostrye was superb on the mound for Forestville in non-league action, allowing only three hits while chalking up 15 strikeouts and one walk in the 7-0 win over Clymer (0-2).
Alison Mierzwa had two hits with a triple, and Kaitlyn Alguire and Clare Kingsfield added two hits for Forestville (4-2).
The hits for Clymer came from Sidney Beal, Gustafson and Linton. Gustafson fanned five batters as well.
SILVER CREEK
OUTLASTS FALCONER
FALCONER — Julia Hill’s three-run home run in the top of the ninth inning lifted Silver Creek (3-3, 2-1) past Falconer (0-3, 0-3), 12-10.
In the bottom of the ninth, Macy Youngberg reached on an infield error, stole second, moved to third on a fielder’s choice and scored on a passed ball.
Hill finished out the game by striking out the last batter.
Youngberg led the Lady Golden Falcons’ offense with two triples and a single; Alex Rivera added a double and two singles and Olivia Adam added a single and double. Ashley Pierce was in the circle.
For Silver Creek Libby Lawton went 3 for 5 with two RBIs, Hill belted her home run and a double and drove in four runs and Tessa Douglas chipped in three hits and three RBIs.
DUNKIRK DOWNS
FREDONIA
FREDONIA — The Fredonia Lady Hillbillies dominated Division 1 last season. On Monday, the Dunkirk Lady Marauders showed that won’t be the case this season.
Dunkirk (7-2, 4-0) scored six times in the first two innings and got more strong pitching from Monica Pokoj in a 9-4 win over the Lady Billies
