A Hole In The American Dream
I had an opportunity to read the article in The Post-Journal ”A Crack In The American Dream”. The crack has been getting bigger and bigger ever since 1929. The main focus of the writer’s article was the January 6 demonstration and the pardons by President Trump.
Those who voted for President Trump were clearly aware of January 6. In fact It was the defining force that managed to get so many people out to vote and it was a wake up call. I did not condone it but it did have unintended consequences but not for the Democratic party. Judging from your article I don’t think you were going to vote for Trump anyway.
We were heading in the wrong direction. The corruption, lies, and selling of America was not going to be tolerated any more. Trump won 77,284,118 of the votes cast for president. That is the second highest vote total in U.S. history. Biden was the highest with 81,283,501. The corruption was so egregious reelection was out of the question for Democrats.
More than 156 million Americans voted in the 2024 presidential election, and for the first time in two decades President-Donald Trump won the popular vote and all of the Swing States. Almost 86 million people did not vote which was disappointing. That’s more people then the total population of California, New York State and Florida.
Trump did not tell people to “storm” or “breach” or “break into” the Capitol as the writer states. That is a boldface Democratic lie that has been circling the toilet bowl along with other misinformation. President Donald Trump did tell supporters on Jan. 6, 2021, to gather at the U.S. Capitol and peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.
I don’t care what a person’s political persuasion is just so one votes. But If someone votes for Obama for two terms, Biden for one term and Kamala in 2024 my guess is they are not independent.
You brought up the pardoning of individuals. Donald Trump did grant some pardons in fact 1,800. However, Obama did 1,900 and Biden pardoned 4,200, the most of any President in history. Many were his relatives who gained financially from his corrupt presidency but that’s OK with you I guess. Biden didn’t even have the decency to pay Hunter’s tax bill of $1.4 million, even though Hunter pleaded guilty, before he left office. No is above the law only except a select few.
You claim you’re a fair minded, educated and well rounded person but you mentioned some scathing comments about the majority of people who voted President Trump in a fair election. Shame on you. How could you say that when you excoriate those of us who participated in a fair election because it didn’t go your way. Remember the government of the people, by the people, and for the people. Your words not mine.
There are about 346,163,343 people in the U.S. and 156,302,318 people voted in 2024. Almost 86,000,000 did not vote. That’s equivalent to all the people in New York state, California, and Florida combined. Shame on them.
I know you’re good grandparents. You make that Buffalo trip ever other day to pick up your granddaughter. The fact that both her parents need to have full time jobs is not unusual nowadays. The American Dream seems to be somewhat out of touch for most.
When I was growing up my father worked and my mom was a stay at home mom and raised me and my brother and sister. We had a house and never went hungry. You need a high paying job to do that now.
I did a study a while back and The Post-Journal was kind enough to print it. Back then you could buy a nice house for about $10,000 or around $5,000 if you built it yourself. A crack in the American dream turned out to be a gaping hole. Sometimes I think we are our own worst enemy. Government of the people, buy the people, and for the people.
