Will Hulk Hogan Be In The Administration?

Now that a Fox News celebrity has been nominated to be Secretary of Defense and a former top executive at World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) tapped to run the Education Department, it would seem likely that there could be a job opening for Hulk Hogan in the federal government.

As the old saying goes: “To the victor belong the spoils.” That policy has generally been followed by both Democratic and Republican administrations over the years. I guess the difference this time is that personal loyalty seems paramount over experience and more political appointees are coming from the news/entertainment business.

That, in itself, should not be a surprise, as the President-elect himself came from that job sector. Yet, in his first administration he tended to nominate people for positions like Secretary of Defense who actually had the experience and knowledge for the job.

This is not meant to bash the President-elect on all of his appointments. For example, a western Governor from the State of North Dakota has been nominated to run the Interior Department. The federal government controls/owns a lot of property in the West, so this nominee has had first-hand knowledge and experience in dealing with the Department of the Interior.

A former Congressman and candidate for Governor in New York has been nominated to run the EPA. Though not noted as an environmental protection guy, he comes from a part of the country where environmental policy has a big impact. He is smart, has held public office and should be able to do the job. The fact that he endorsed Mr. Trump is not disqualifying…this is the way of American politics.

But, that brings us to Hulk Hogan who, as far as I know, is still a rough and tumble ex-wrestler. He made a big appearance at the Republican Convention and is close to the President. Where would he fit in? Perhaps, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) would be a good fit.

Another factor about HHS is that it is proposed to be headed up by Robert Kennedy Jr., a Democrat, who is known for having some half-baked ideas about healthcare. Kennedy is going to have his hands full and will need guidance in running this department of about 80,000 people. Maybe Hulk Hogan is the man who can provide the needed advice.

I expect though that Hogan’s most likely landing spot will be at the Department of Education which is supposed to be headed by the former CEO of WWE. Sports as entertainment has likely been overlooked as an educational priority by the federal government and Hogan could fix that.

Enough speculation. “To the victor belong the spoils.” The Senate now has the job of vetting cabinet members and various other appointees.

The political campaign is over. Vice President Harris participated in the certification proceedings affirming Donald Trump to be the winner in the electoral college. No one tried to interfere in the process, and no one was breaking into the Capitol… like we had four years ago.

The Republicans had a big election. They now have the responsibility of governing. On we go!
