Sally L. Brooks

A lifelong area resident, she was born July 13, 1934, in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late C. Harold and Esther Westman Johnson.

She was a 1952 graduate of Jamestown High School.

Before her retirement years she was employed by the former Jamestown Credit Bureau, the former Century Wholesale Store and by the former Jamestown Telephone Company.

She was a longtime member of the former Immanuel Lutheran Church and was also a member of the Thule Lodge #127 VASA, the Diana Lodge of the Independent Order of the Vikings, and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Surviving are her three children, Kathleen Klaskov of Grand Island, NY, Linda Mekus of Jamestown, NY, Steven (Shawn) Brooks of The Villages, FL; five grandchildren, Travis (Colleen) Smith of Grand Island, NY, Korinne Marie Smith of Rochester, NY, Tyler (Ashley) Mekus of Blasdell, NY, Kaylee (Alex Adams) Brooks of Willow Spring, NC, Kyle (Lindsey Goodson) Brooks of Pine Level, NC; eight great-grandchildren, Samson C. Kesler, Sawyer S. Kesler, Carly Smith, Madison Smith, Jackson Smith, Grant Mekus, Jack Mekus and Kopelan Brooks.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Brooks whom she married Feb. 15, 1958, and who died April 27, 2022; her sister, Cynthia Klomp; and her brother, John A. Johnson.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2025, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Laura Csellak and Rev. Mark Swanson will officiate. The burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, two hours prior to the service in the funeral home.
