Michael J. LaKotta

Michael John LaKotta, 78, of Sherman, NY, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. He was born March 4, 1947, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Michael F and Grace May LaKotta.

Mike was an auto mechanic and a co-owner of Route 6 Service in Killingly, CT, with his best friend, Leslie “Butch” Michalski. He had also worked as a mechanic for Schultz in Jamestown, NY and several businesses in Connecticut.

He was a member of the NRA and a regular donor to Shriners and St Jude’s Children’s Hospitals. He enjoyed working on cars, playing poker, and watching NASCAR, the New York Yankees, and the WWE. Most of all, he enjoyed time with his family and friends.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Christa Puju LaKotta, of Sherman, NY; his three children, Erik LaKotta, Sharon (Mark) Charrette; and Sandra (Anthony Kuczynski) LaKotta, all of Sherman, NY; seven grandchildren, Amanda Evans, Savanah (Cory) Palmisano, Shawn (Danielle) LaKotta, Megan Charrette, Zoey Charrette, Ryan Baker, and Jason LaKotta; three great-grandchildren, Mason, Ava, and Eli, and several nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul, and John LaKotta.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 PM on Monday, April 28, 2025, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville, 139 S. Erie St. The family will receive friends from 5 PM until the start of the service.
