Melissa Ann “Lou” Stanton, 45, of Delaware Avenue, Jamestown, NY, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at UPMC Chautauqua, Jamestown, NY.

Melissa was born on Jan. 19, 1979, in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of Patricia Agate Jones of Jamestown, NY and Jerry Stanton (Jean Ann Mohney) of Wilcox, PA.

Melissa graduated from Southwestern High School in 1997. She earned her associate degree from Jamestown Community College. She attended Edinboro University and she received her bachelor’s degree in psychology with a concentration on alcohol and drug abuse from Southern New Hampshire University. She received Penmen Pursuits Award. Her biggest accomplishment was receiving her degree.

Melissa was a big fan of Don Beebe and they became close friends. She loved going to Waldameer, shopping with her nephew and spoiling him. Her personality would light up a room. She was a social butterfly and loved to meet new people. Melissa was known to be a talker. Melissa was a therapeutic foster parent and loved helping children. Her love for children was why she wanted to get her degree in psychology. She loved to host parties and loved life. Melissa loved her dogs Miracle and Midnight, and her turtles.

In addition to her parents, Melissa is survived by her two sisters, Ronda (Michael) Bush of Jamestown, NY, and Amy Mistretta of Jamestown, NY; two nephews, Connor Bush and Anthony Mistretta both of Jamestown, NY; and her niece, Alyssa Mistretta of Jamestown, NY and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Melissa was laid to rest in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Jamestown, NY.
