Luella M. Strickland

Luella M. Strickland
Luella M. Strickland, 87, formerly of Norby Road, passed away following many devastating years of Alzheimer’s disease, on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Heritage Park. She was born on July 10, 1937, to the late Lynn and Louise Johnson Sears.
Following high school graduation from Sugar Grove Farmington School where she was homecoming queen her senior year, Luella fell in love with her husband of 65 years, Kenneth. He gave her the ring prior to his departure for two years in the US Army. Luella devotedly waited those years to marry her soulmate. They were married in the Cable Hollow Church in Akeley, PA. Luella was known by friends and family as “Wally” which originated from her father.
A kind person who always had a smile for everyone, Luella was truly, “one heck of a mother and wife.” She was proud to be a mom, raising four boys with love, care, and devotion. Her family always came first.
Though soft-spoken, Luella’s deep compassion left a lasting impression on all who knew her, and her kindness spoke volumes. She welcomed her daughters-in-law like her own and cherished time spent with her mother and sisters.
Luella and Kenneth shared a fondness for music. Luella enjoyed music by Elvis Presley, and Sonny James.
The family devotion Luella fostered and upheld will be deeply missed by her husband, Kenneth R. Strickland; her four sons, Jim (Lainey) Strickland of Raleigh, NC, Steven (Ruby) Strickland of Lakewood, John Strickland of Charlotte, NC, and Timothy (Lori Thierfeldt) Strickland of Jamestown; her grandchildren Richard, Jessica, James, Madeline, and Mara Strickland; her sister, Carol Munson; as well as many nieces, and nephews.
Besides her parents, Luella was preceded in death by her three sisters, Helen, Joyce, and Joan.
In keeping with the family’s wishes, no public visitation or service will be held. Burial will be in Foster Cemetery, Lander, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
