Karen A. Brewer

Karen A. Brewer
Beloved Mother, daughter, sister, and friend Karen Ann Brewer, 61, of Jamestown, NY, unexpectedly passed away April 14, 2025, leaving a void that will be hard for her family to fill. She dedicated her life to her family, her faith in God, and helping people.
Karen was born on Nov. 13, 1963, in Salamanca, NY, to Patricia LeBlanc and David Brewer, where she spent her childhood years. She graduated from Salamanca High School in 1981. During her younger years, Karen developed a love and devotion for helping people and dreamed of becoming a Nurse. She served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged from active duty in 1985. While she was in the Navy, Karen developed her skills for helping people by focusing those skills and becoming an LPN. During her time in the Navy, she spent time at different Naval Hospitals, learning and honing her skills that she would use in her 20-plus years in Nursing. She worked at The Resource Center and The Lutheran Home as an LPN. Karen also went back to college, attending Jamestown Community College and SUNY Fredonia for Medical Coding, where she graduated with her associate’s degree.
Karen married Frank L. Meier on April 25, 1987, and they were married for a total of 23 years, they divorced but remained lifelong best-friends. She was a born-again Christian, who found great comfort in her faith in God, and spent her adult life spreading the word and faith to others in need. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 91 “God is my refuge and my fortress: Under his wings, I will find shelter.”
Karen is survived by her two sons that she shared with Frank, Jacob L. Meier, Joshua D. Meier; daughter-in-law Samantha J. Fortune; her mother Patricia LeBlanc; step-mother Julie Brewer; brother David Brewer; sister-in-law Jessie Brewer; nephews Michael and Mason Brewer; step-brother Matt LeBlanc (Laurie LeBlanc, Jessica Gogel and Stash LeBlanc); and other nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by Frank L. Meier, father David Brewer, step-father Ronald LeBlanc, stepbrother Noel Leblanc, and many friends.
During Karen’s later years, she was a proud and long-term member of AA and Al-Anon, where she would lend a helping hand to many people in need. Karen took pride in taking care of people, especially her family. Anyone that knew Karen, knows she was a reliable person who you could always count on to be in your corner. From the words of one of her sons, Jacob, “You weren’t just my mom, you were my coach, my teacher, my nurse, and my best-friend. It won’t be easy to make up for all the love you spread in the world. I love and miss you, always and forever.” Karen will be dearly remembered and forever missed by her family and friends.
We want to extend a thank you to Mentley Funeral Home of Little Valley, NY for the care they have shown. There will be a Memorial Church Ceremony at Our Lady of Peace RC Parish in Karen’s hometown Salamanca, NY, held for close family and friends on Friday May 2 , 2025, at 10:30 am.
Memorials may be made to AA.
