Arthur H. Nelson

He was born Nov. 13, 1937, in Jamestown, a son of the late Edwin and Katherine Erickson Nelson.

He was a 1955 graduate of Southwestern Central School.

Prior to his retirement he was employed by Eastern Plywood as a salesman and also worked as a bartender at Lakewood Rod and Gun. Following retirement, he worked as groundskeeper at Holy Cross Cemetery and driver for CARTS.

He attended The Rock Church and earlier Lakewood Baptist Church. He was a former member of Lakewood Rod and Gun Club and South Hills Country Club and life member of Lakewood Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving is a son Leslie (Cherie) Ticknor of North Vernon, IN; daughter Sharon Streed of Lakewood; grandchildren John Streed of Lakewood, Elizabeth Collins of Warren, OH, Sara (Jonathan) Bernstein of Pittsburgh, PA, Katie (Isaiah) Swerdon of Ashville, Amy (Randy) Lobb of Jamestown and Andrea Ticknor of Dallas, TX; nine great-grandchildren; a sister Kitty Parker of Dewittville, NY; and several great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Hodges Nelson, whom he married May 18, 1969, and who died Oct. 17, 2005, and several brothers, and sisters.

The funeral will be held at 11 am Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Gregory Streed will officiate.

Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Ashville.

Friends will be received from 2-4 pm Sunday in the funeral home.
