Sara Lynn Weinstein, 86, of Lakewood, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday February 27, 2025, at UPMC Hamot.
She was born March 22, 1938, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of the late David and Eva Weiner Holtzman.
Following high school, Sara attended the University of Illinois where she met her late husband, Harold “Bud” Weinstein.
Sara lived a life full of love for family and friends. She enjoyed oil painting, golfing, attending and watching sporting events of all kinds, and was even a racehorse owner at one time. But most of all, she thrived on loving and caring for family and friends.
Sara was a member of Moon Brook Country Club for over 50 years and collected several holes-in-one. She also witnessed her grandson, Noah, make a hole-in-one.
She was a loving and supportive grandmother, never missing a grandkid’s sporting event. Sara will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and a devoted friend.
Surviving are three children: Michael Weinstein, Barbara (Daniel) Drake and Paul (Kathleen) Weinstein and a niece, Robin (Mark) Krpan. Ten grandchildren: Rachel (Jeremiah) Betts, Joshua and Andrew Weinstein, Phillip and Zachary Drake, Eric (Natalie) Kress, David (Krissy) Weinstein, MacKenzie (Andrew) Farnham, Noah (Kara) Weinstein, and Dylan Krpan; nine great-grandchildren: Hailey, Emma and Madison Betts, Kylie & Gavin Kress, Jemma, Meadow and Willow Weinstein, and Miller Farnham, as well as other extended family.
Besides her parents (Eva and David Holtzman) she was preceded in death by her husband Bud Weinstein whom she married June 16, 1957, and who passed February 5, 2016, and her sister Phyllis Nitzkin.
A private family service will be held. Visitation will not be observed.
