Ross Allan Snyder Jr.

Ross Allan Snyder Jr.
It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our son, Ross Allan Snyder Jr., affectionately known as Unie, on February 27, 2025, at the age of 42. After nine years of enduring a prolonged illness, Ross Jr. passed away, leaving behind a legacy of strength, humor, and perseverance that will forever be cherished. His sharp mind, infectious humor, unwavering courage, and hope never faltered, even through the most challenging times.
Born on April 29, 1982, in Jamestown, NY, Ross Jr. was the son of Ross Snyder Sr. and Clovis (Allen) Snyder. He initially attended Falconer Central School but later completed his education through homeschooling due to a heart condition and multiple surgeries.
Prior to his illness, he worked for Roundy’s Wholesale Distribution Center and later at Quality Markets, where he developed lifetime friendships with his coworkers.
Ross Jr. had many passions that shaped his life. He was an ardent reader and had an innate ability to recall almost everything he read. He had an interest in World War II history and Japanese culture where he dreamed of living one day. He was a lifelong fan of 1980s movies, music and British mysteries. He had a profound admiration for The Beatles and enjoyed listening to their music. His incredible memory and love of storytelling allowed him to entertain family and friends with amusing stories and witty impersonations. His humor, often delivered with a sarcastic flair, was one of his defining traits.
Ross Jr. was recognized for his artistic abilities, particularly in freehand drawing, as he dreamed of one day becoming an animator. He was an avid fan of the Swat Kats animated series, collaborated with others on the development of a new Swat Kats video game, and had a personal friendship with its creators.
He is survived by his father, Ross Sr., and mother, Clovis (Allen) Snyder, of Jamestown, NY; sister, Cassandra Durnell of Staatsburg, NY; and brother, Seth Snyder of Edinboro, PA. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Barbara Snyder of Randolph, NY, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lorraine (Meabon) Allen and Phillip Allen Sr., and his paternal grandfather, Danna Snyder.
Ross Jr. will be particularly missed by his cousin, Melissa Snyder, who was like his twin sister and best friend. Her unwavering devotion and support were invaluable throughout his journey. She was his ray of sunshine, bringing him comfort and encouragement during difficult times. He will also be missed by his close friends Allie, Jenn, Donovan, and Arya, whose visits always brought him much joy
Many heartfelt thanks go out to those who treated Ross Jr. with compassion, dedication, and exceptional care: Michelle, RN; Heather, PT; Nancy, RT; Dr. Riedesel and his team from Family Health Medical Services; Dr. So and his nursing staff; Dr. Shah; Marisa, NP; and numerous others, too many to mention.
Ross Jr. was known as a giving person, and even in death, he gave the gift of life through organ donation–something he was proud to do.
No formal funeral or visitations will be observed. The burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Kennedy, NY. A celebration of life is planned for mid-year with details to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Ross Jr.’s memory to CORE, 204 Sigma Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15238 or to the ALS Association at ALS.org.
Scripture: John 5:28-29 Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.
