Ronald D. Oberg

Ronald D. “Ron” Oberg, 76, of Jamestown, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 in Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing Facility.

He was born on Nov. 20, 1948 in Jamestown, a son of the late Roger and Doris Erickson Oberg.

He attended Frewsburg Central School and was a veteran of the US Navy Seabees, retiring as a Chief after 20 years.

Ron was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where served on the property committee and was a church usher. He was also a member of the Carpenters Union, American Legion Samuel L. Derby Post 556, and a former member of the Vikings.

Prior to retirement, he was a lifelong carpenter and retired as owner of Oberg Builders.

He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, hunting, and spending time at the family camp.

Ron is survived by his wife of 35 years, Karen J. Gustafson Oberg, whom he married on Feb. 14, 1990; two sons Christopher Oberg (Narda Gatgen), and Owen Oberg (Patricia); step-daughter Lisa Housemann; two step-sons Randy Sitler, and Doug (Anna) Sitler; nine grandchildren Bridget, Lorraine, Eric, Payton, Lindsey, Jacob, and Josh Oberg; one great-grandchild Owen Oberg; three sisters Cynthia Hile, Judy Saeger, and Lorie Robbins (Jesse); and nieces and nephews Kelly, Krista, Jason, Nathan, and Cole.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren Shaylynne and Evan Oberg, and a nephew James Wolfe.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 in Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg. Pastor Phillip Roushey will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.

Friends will be received from 11am-noon (one hour prior) on Tuesday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Myers Memorial Library or Zion Lutheran Church.
