WESTFIELD- Nancy L. Mayer Smith, 84, of Westfield, NY, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025, at the Westfield Memorial Hospital, with family at her side, following a lengthy illness. She was born May 3, 1940, in Mayville, the daughter of the late Robert and Martha Erhard Mayer.

She was a 1958 graduate of Mayville Central School. She had worked alongside her husband, Chuck, as owners and operators of Farr Building Supplies in Westfield. In earlier years she had also worked as a Telephone Operator for the Chautauqua and Erie Telephone company in Westfield, and also Sears Roebuck Catalog Store, also in Westfield.

Nancy was a member of the Westfield Moose, Lodge 118, and the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Dewittville, NY. Her interests included shopping, dining out, taking car rides in the country with family, watching soap operas, looking out over Lake Erie, and accommodating her family. Most of all, she enjoyed just being with her family.

Nancy is survived by her children, Todd Smith, Roxanne Smith, Mark (Billie) Smith, and Debbie (Keith) Nhalay, nine grandchildren, Carolyn (Sam) McVane, Derek (Anna) Smith, Chandler (Lacie) Smith, Amber (Scott) Leamer, Cassandra (Chris) Cochran, Michael (Ashlee) Paternosh, Chloe Smith, Joseph Smith, and Sophie Smith, twelve great grandchildren, her siblings, Robert Erhard, Melissa Webb, Belinda (James) Melvin, Robert (Ivy) Dutkiewicz, and David Mayer one sister inlaw, Susan Mayer, two aunts, Betty Lou McKane and Mary Jane Dascomb, and a large extended family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Chuck” F. Smith, whom she married October 18, 1958, a son, Nathan Smith, and two brothers, Joseph Mayer and Daniel Mayer.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7PM on Friday, March 14, 2025, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S Erie St). The funeral will be held at 11AM on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Dewittville, NY (5821 Meadows Rd). The Rev Andrew Frudd will officiate. Burial will be in the Dewittville Cemetery.
