John P. Turk Jr.

John P. Turk Jr.
John P. Turk Jr., 86, of Frewsburg, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 22, 2025. He was born on January 1, 1939, in Jamestown, NY to the late John P. Turk, Sr. and Mary Hawkins Turk.
A craftsman through woodworking, John spent his years building and fixing. His occupational career was with both Master Carvers and the Jamestown Lounge; moreover, his skills were upheld at home, where he built an addition to the family home. For John, he did not need to “call a guy,” for he was the guy. Whether it was problem-solving the plumbing or wiring or fixing cars, John did it all with ease.
John enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially taking them for tractor rides. Family camping trips were also a highlight in his Senior years.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Wilson Turk, whom he married on September 15, 1973; his children, Thomas (Rachel) Turk and Susan (Nathan) Eggleton; his grandchildren, Ayla, Nicole, Jessica, and Ryan; his sister, Mary Ann (Robert) Hayes; his brother, James Turk; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his sisters, Grace Shannon and Nancy Grover, and his brother, David Turk.
The memorial service for John will be at 1pm on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Lind Funeral Home. Hospice Chaplain Cathy Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service from 11-1pm Sunday at Lind’s. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W Fairmount Ave, Lakewood, NY 14750, or to the Chautauqua County Office for the Aging, 107 Institute Street Suite 220, Jamestown, NY 14701.
