Jean Louise Horvath Zingale

Jean Louise Horvath Zingale
Jean Louise Horvath Zingale, 97, on February 25, 2025, Heaven received a Golden Angel with sparkling but subdued wings. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Louis and Madeline Tomko Horvath on April 12, 1927. She married the late Antonino “Tony” Zingale on February 5, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio where they resided until moving to Lakewood, New York in 1965. One year later, they purchased a home in Bemus Point, New York where they resided until July 17, 2003, when they moved to Phoenix, Arizona. She always said she purchased her house in Arizona because it had Diamond Head and the ocean in the backyard (a small mountain and a pool), plus her boys lived near.
Jean worked many different jobs throughout her life. In her early teen years, she cleaned houses for several families who lived near her. In her later teens, she volunteered as a “Candy Striper” at University Hospital in Cleveland. That job she always hailed as her best and most favorite as she was able to go into the newborn nursery and hold the new babies! After graduating from John Adams High School in Cleveland, she secured a job with General Electric in the accounting department where she developed the skills to help support her family business, A-Z Waste Services, in Jamestown, NY.
She lived for her family!! There were many years that she raised her four children by herself when Tony was working in other states. A role she took seriously. As her family grew, every weekend, she enjoyed making dinner for the entire family and spending special times with each member of the family. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed doing that for her family!
She was a very faithful, devote person loving God and Mary. She loved listening to stories of the Bible and always wanted to be told about God and Mary-always seeking a deeper understanding of her faith and life. She and Tony had a deep friendship with several priests during their time in Bemus Point; Father John Kuhlman, Father Samuel George, and Father Salhe. Many memories were told of these fun, special times.
She was a very humble and kind, gentle, and loving person all through her life, and she continued to exhibit that these traits were indeed her, right to the very end. Anyone who did anything for her, she thanked them, and held and kissed their hand even though she could hardly speak. Although unable to walk for the last 4 years, the resilience, determination, mental strength and courage she showed were all a source of inspiration to those around her. For many years while in Bemus, she enjoyed getting together with the girls for painting and refinishing of furniture and special pieces, and her many golf outings. After moving to Arizona, she missed those special times with them.
Jean is survived by her four children: Joseph (Vicki) Zingale , Jeannie (Patrick) Steffen, Mark Zingale (Laura Dawson), Richard (Teresa) Zingale; nine grandchildren: Michael (Julie), Kevin (Danielle), and Scott (Lauren) Zingale; Connor (Leyna) Steffen and Jacqueline (Robert) Daliege; Kimberly (Blake) Stevenson and Allison (Brett) Zingale-Beasley; Anthony Zingale, and David Zingale (Karlee Paloukos). Also survived by 14 great-grandchildren: Lisette, Jocelyn, Andrew, Madeline, Luke, Aaron, Tony and Nicco Zingale; Cole and Jaxon Steffen, Jameson and Remington Daliege; Kylie Stevenson; and 1 step-great grandchild Layla Rose Dawson.
She is predeceased by her husband, Tony Zingale; her parents, Louis and Madeline Horvath; and one great-grandchild. NOTEWORTHY: She was the last surviving member of her generation across the family.
