Gregory Alan Smoker

Gregory Alan Smoker

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the death of Gregory Alan Smoker, 67, of Jamestown, NY. Greg was born in Knox, Indiana on December 30, 1957, to J. Samuel and the late Margaret Good Smoker.

Mr. Smoker died a non-smoking Smoker. Smoker was his name, not his game.

An outgoing, eccentric, and jovial man, Greg was found telling jokes and serving the community for 27 years at the Foote Avenue McDonald’s. He brightened every room into which he entered, upholding his “jokester” vibrancy.

His love for electronics ran deep. Greg could be found tinkering with gadgets up until the very end. Quite the Elvis fan, he enjoyed listening to hits throughout his days.

A faithful member of Lighthouse Baptist Church, Greg upheld a deep faith in Jesus Christ and was vocal about encouraging others to accept Him as their Lord and Savior. He was the driving force behind the mission closet and the men’s prayer service; further, he was a trustee and head usher. His pastors, Don Erickson, Gary Buchanan, and most recently Ramon Corder, were mentors and vital stewards of Greg’s strong faith.

Greg’s exuberant liveliness will be missed by his sons, Michael Smoker and Brian Smoker; his siblings, Stephen (Linda) Smoker of Vestal, NY, and Jennifer L. (Ladd) Kitterman of Indianapolis, IN; many nieces and nephews; his step-mother, Vickie Smoker; many aunts and uncles; as well as his beloved dog, Brownie, who comforted him at his bedside through his final hours.

The celebration of life for Greg will be at 2:00pm on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Lighthouse Baptist Church. Pastor Ramon Corder will officiate. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation for one half hour prior to the service Friday at Lighthouse Baptist Church, from 1:30-2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church, 381 Camp Street, Jamestown, NY 14701.
