Andrew J. Erickson

Andrew J. Erickson

Andrew J. Erickson, longtime resident of Jamestown, NY, passed away at his home on March 15, 2025 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Andrew, better known as Andy, was born on December 22, 1951 at WCA Hospital. He was the son of the late Andrew B. Erickson and Patricia E. (Walker) Erickson.

Andy graduated from Jamestown High School in 1971 and Jamestown Community College in 1973. He also attended SUNY Oswego. Along with his brother and father, Andy owned Thorsell Erickson Construction, later moving to a career at Alltel and finally finishing his career as an installation and repair technician at Windstream.

All who knew Andy will remember his love of the outdoors. Whether he was riding one of his treasured Honda motorcycles, hunting with his brother and best friends, fishing with his children and grandchildren, adventuring through national and state parks across the country with his wife, or even just driving through Allegany State Park with his dog by his side, Andy was never far from nature. He loved returning to his childhood home for his last ten years where he could enjoy nature in his own backyard, watching the deer, turkey, and birds of all species right from his kitchen window. In his quiet time, he loved to listen to The Beatles and watch his favorite westerns on TV.

Andy made many lifelong friends from his childhood and college days, whom he kept in close contact with until the end. Others knew Andy from his years spent at the Allen Park Ice Rink and ice rinks all across the Northeast watching his son play hockey and his daughter figure skate. As a member of the Vikings and Southern Tier Riders, Andy and his wife, Cindy, enjoyed their adventures with many good friends.

Andy is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia R. (Greer) Erickson, whom he married on May 19, 1979. He is also survived by his son, Seth A. Erickson (Heather) of Mayville, N.Y.; his daughter, Lindsay R. Marzec (Charles) of Bemus Point, N.Y.; and his six grandchildren: Kori I. Erickson, Kira E. Erickson, Luke A. Erickson, Owen M. Marzec, Charlotte R. Marzec, and Abigail P. Erickson. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, a nephew, nieces, cousins, sisters-in-law, and many other close friends and family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his most beloved brother and best friend, Kevin A. Erickson as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation and funeral services will be held at the Falconer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21st from 5-7pm and Saturday, March 22nd from 12-1pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 22nd at 1pm, with Rev. Gary Nelson, a best friend of Andy’s since childhood, officiating. The funeral service will be followed by a luncheon at the Falcon’s Nest at 2001 E. Main St. in Falconer, NY.
