Herbert E. Johnson
Herbert E. “Herb” Johnson, 72, passed away on Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, at Warren Manor. A lifelong area resident, Herb was born in Jamestown on March 4, 1952, to the late J. Edwin and Mary Warn Johnson.
Following high school graduation, Herb found his working career in furniture manufacturing. He committed years to both Monitor Furniture and Sterling Furniture.
A helpful hand to everyone, Herb went above and beyond, albeit to extreme points at times. In earlier years, he loved nothing more than camping and sitting around fires. The outdoors spoke to him, and even when under his daughter’s care the last five years, Herb was consistently spotted scootering all over Gerry.
Back in the “good old days,” if one couldn’t find Herb, there was a solid chance he was at the Keg Room. The locale became a grounded staple for Herb and his family alike.
Herb’s heart swelled for animals, and, in quiet moments, he appreciated watching Westerns and wrestling. Doodling was his constant mode of relaxation.
An amazing grandpa filled with pride, Herb will be deeply missed by his daughter, Alicia Johnson; son, Ryan (Melissa) Johnson; son, Jesse Johnson; stepson, Dan Morse; grandchildren Quinn, Sawyer, and Noah Johnson, and Cooper, Foster, and Zella Johnson; siblings, Dawn Giamo and Penny (Tony) Zaccari; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Herb was preceded in death by his longtime partner, Helena Green, and his brother-in-law, John H. McNutt.
In keeping with Herb’s wishes, no formal service or visitation will be observed. A Celebration of Life will be announced by the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made, in Herb’s name, to Warren Manor, 682 Pleasant Drive, Warren, PA 16365. The family remains grateful for the excellent care given to Herb during his time there.
