Daniel S. Sundlov, 79, of Dewittville, passed away Saturday February 15, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital.
He was born on July 4, 1945, in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Elov and Mabel Johnson Sundlov.
Daniel graduated as a valedictorian in 1963 from Mayville High School. After graduation Daniel voluntarily enlisted in the United States Air Force. Following his service, he continued his education at Syracuse University studying Forestry. He then returned home to Dewittville where he began his family and built his home and built or assisted with homes for many of his siblings.
He was a self-employed finish carpenter for over 50 years.
Daniel enjoyed gardening and kept one of the finest vegetable gardens in Chautauqua County. He also enjoyed throwing frisbee for his Australian Shepherds: Lucky, Maggie, and Pip. Extremely well read, Daniel enjoyed the classics of literature. He loved science and nature and continually immersed himself in self-study of astronomy, botany, landscaping, and chicken husbandry. He enjoyed fishing, keeping a goldfish pond, listening to music, and driving the County’s backroads, and finishing the week with a cold beer with friends around the kitchen table.
Survivors include his four children Tim Sundlov of Glennallen, AK, David Sundlov of Southlake, TX, Mark Sundlov of Saint Louis, MO, and Jesse (Melissa) Sundlov of Milwaukee, WI, and his four grandchildren: Jadyn Sundlov and Kasen Sundlov (David) and Atticus Sundlov and Annika Sundlov (Jesse and Melissa). He is also survived by his brother Paul (Bonnie) Sundlov of Lakewood, NY.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Donald (Marilyn), John (Helen) and James (Bonnie) Sundlov; and four sisters Barbara Best, Margaret (Roy) Christy, Jeanne (George) Wheeler, and Elizabeth Sundlov.
Friends and family will be received from 12 to 2 pm on Saturday February 22, 2025, in the Lind Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Dewittville Cemetery.
