Bion L. Chaffee

Bion, raised in Erie, attended Cathedral Prep and graduated from SUNY Fredonia. A passion for teaching, Bion was a parttime English teacher at SUNY Fredonia and was substitute teacher at the Falconer Central Schools. Bion was a lifetime learner and had numerous interests. He was an avid reader, enjoyed languages, most notably, Greek, also astronomy and chess. Bion, training with his friend Don Swingle, was a dedicated weightlifter and was a NYS Heavy Weight Champion.

Bion is survived by his wife, Kathie D. (Johnson) Chaffee; his son, Jonathan (Catherine) Easton; grandson, Donald Easton; 2 sisters: Cheryl (Otto) Beer, of Charlottesville, NC, Ginger (late Clifford) Bendig, of Erie, PA; 2 nieces: Kerrie Beer, and Leila Bendig; 5 nephews: Frank, Jr., Peter (Andrea) and Kevin (Jenn) Geirlinger, Robert and Gregory Beer; 5 grandnieces, Esme Beer, Mackenzie Beer, Brianna, Katelynn and Megan Geirlinger and 3 grandnephews: Cyrus, Aiden and Caleb Geirlinger;

Besides his parents, Bion is pre-deceased by his 5 sisters, Claudia (Frank) Geirlinger, September, Leila, Nana and Marilyn Chaffee; a nephew, Clifford Bendig, Jr., and niece, Tammy Geirlinger.

Funeral service will be private.
