Alice J. “Bea” (Young) Farrell
South Dayton–Alice J. “Bea” (Young) Farrell, 92, of Kent Switch Road, Town of Cherry Creek, South Dayton, passed away, Thursday, February 6, 2025 at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab in Dunkirk.
Bea was born September 5, 1932 in Vandergrift, PA the daughter of the late Richard P. Young and Zora O. (Wolford) Young. She was a graduate of Otto High School in Duke Center, Pa.
She and her husband Ron ran a Dairy Farm and raised vegetables and sold them at a stand in front of their South Dayton home. She also was a Home Maker, worked for 16 years at the former Nestle/ Carnation Foods in South Dayton and had also worked for a prominent Attorney in town.
She was a member of the Cherry Creek-Leon United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of the South Dayton American Legion Unit 1593 Auxiliary and Cherry Creek Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 2522 Auxiliary.
Ron and Bea designed and built their unique round cordwood style home in South Dayton, with the help of their friend Ralph Nash and many family and friends. Many people still stop by to take pictures of the house. She enjoyed skiing, painting and gardening.
She is survived by two sons, Martyn (Marquita) Farrell of Bloomfield, NY and Neal (Gayle Swenson) Farrell of Phoenix, AZ., two grandsons; Trevor and Sean Farrell of Bloomfield, sister-in-laws, Audrey (late Frank) Wicks and Linda (Clair) Inkley all of Randolph, and survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Zora, and her husband Ronald Martyn Farrell South Dayton, whom she married on May 1, 1955 in Duke Center, Pa, and who passed away April 24, 2017, two siblings; Richard (Doris) Young of Bradford, Pa. , and Helen Vanderfin of Pine Grove, Ca.,
The VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church Street, Randolph was entrusted with her care. As per Bea’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services observed.
