Susan M. Kilmartin
Susan M. Kilmartin, 67, of Jamestown passed away Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025 in her home with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.
A lifelong area resident she was born June 24, 1957 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Robert E. and Norma J. Carlson Grover.
Susan was a 1975 graduate of Randolph High School and Cattaraugus Co. BOCES earning her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree.
Susan was employed by Lutheran Social Services and various nursing homes after graduation. She was employed by Dr. Andrea Johnson and served as a substitute nurse for Falconer Central School. Susan had a love of animals, especially horses and worked for Dr. Sanderson at the Pet Animal Hospital. She was founder of Hoof Prints in Motion which was a rescue for horses. Susan raised and sold Samoyed dog pedigree. Most recently Susan was employed by Bethel Lutheran Church serving as Christian Education Director.
She was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church, Women of Faith having attended numerous conferences and Koinonia of Jamestown & Chautauqua Co. Susan enjoyed spending time with her family and was often referred to as “Mother Nature” for her love of animals and nature. She enjoyed taking trips to Cape Cod and discovering different shells and rocks on the seashore.
Surviving is her husband Sean L. Kilmartin whom she married Sept. 3, 1983 in Bethel Lutheran Church; her daughter Kelsey Jane Kilmartin (Joshua Lanphere); five grandchildren: Clara Lanphere, Maverick Lanphere, Willow Lanphere, Lorelei Lanphere, Jaxx Lanphere; two sisters Jacqueline Erickson (Mike Amico), Roberta (John) Bliemeister; nieces and caregivers: Jessica (Joseph) Prior, Brittney Grover; a brother Richard (Barb) Grover; sister and brother in laws Deborah (Jim) Ognibene, William J. (Sharon) Kilmartin IV, Kelly (LouAnn) Kilmartin, Sandy Kilmartin, and several beloved nieces and nephews; caregiver and family friend Roxanne Spangler, and her loving support dog, Hope.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Shana Margaret Kilmartin on Nov. 15, 1990; a son Sean L. Kilmartin II on March 23, 2024; two brothers-in-law Kevin Erickson and Patric Kilmartin.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Rob Allport-Cohoon pastor of Bethel Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
