Sandra Tidquist

Sandra Jean Johnson Tidquist, 83, a lifelong resident of Jamestown, NY, passed away on Jan. 22, 2025 after a short battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Sandra was born on Nov. 22, 1941 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Axel Hjalmar and Anna Sophia Johnson Johnson. As a twin, and the youngest of eight children, she developed a great love for being with family and friends which lasted a lifetime.

Later, she started her own interior painting and wallpapering business which lasted for over 30 years. She also was a partner in the Body Connection Exercise and Tanning Facility.

She was a loving, hard-working and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed golfing, helping others, and traveling with her husband and family. She participated in the Bemus Point Tuesday Morning Golf League and the Timber Creek Monday Night League. In earlier years she enjoyed bowling in several area leagues. She also enjoyed bicycling, cross-country skiing and especially the yearly trips she made to Wyoming to spend time on the Palm Ranch. She was a member of the Norden Women’s Club and a life-long member of the Zion Covenant Church.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years James Calvin Tidquist, and her children, Karin Ann Josephson (David), and Craig Douglas Tidquist, all in Jamestown, NY; her grandchildren, Rebecca Josephson of Brooklyn, NY, and Graham Josephson of Cincinnati, OH; her sister, Marilyn Osman of Atlanta; and her brothers, Ralph (Carolyn) Johnson, and Marvin Johnson of Jamestown.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother Mable Anderson Johnson; her sister, Ann Marie (Jim) Kelly, and her twin sister, Sonya VanEpps; her brothers Donald (Phyllis) Johnson and Paul (Sylvia) Johnson; a stepsister Francis (Gail) Ledebur; and stepbrothers William Anderson, Carl Arthur (Carol) Anderson, John Anderson, and David Anderson.

Sandy’s funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27 at Zion Covenant Church, led by Rev. Jay Baehr. Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home.
