Sally Ann Shavalier

Sally Ann Shavalier, 77, of Jamestown, passed peacefully into the next life on Jan. 22, 2025, at UPMC Chautauqua, with her loving family by her side. She was born Nov. 7, 1947, in Yoakum, Texas to the marital union of the late Clyde and Mildred Weber DeDear.

In her earlier years, she was an expert saddle maker and hand tooled the most beautiful designs on leather saddles and belts. She had an incredible green thumb and could grow anything. She loved gardening, bird watching, and growing the most beautiful flowers in her backyard. She was a lover of all animals and the animals knew it. She was an excellent cook and loved to feed people. She had a great sense of humor and was humble and kind, no matter what life threw at her. The best parts of her will live on through her children.

Surviving are her husband of 31 years, David Shavalier of Jamestown; five daughters Lynn (Sherry) Booker, of Houston, TX, Susie (Jason) Eggemeyer of Yoakum, TX, Trish (Tim) Schultze of Hallettsville, TX, Angel (Erick) Johnson of Jamestown, NY, and Bobbi Jo Wood of Westfield, NY; her step children Christine Shavalier of Mayville, NY, Dale (Crystal) Shavalier of Mansfield, TX, and Jeremy Shavalier of Mclouth, OK; a plethora of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother Paul DeDear of Yoakum, TX; and a sister Pauline (Chris) Culak of Victoria, TX.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her mother-in-law, Marion Shavalier and a grandson, Aaron Shavalier.

Per her wishes, there will be no funeral service. Burial will be private in Lakeview Cemetery, Jamestown, NY.

A very heartfelt thank you from the family to the incredible staff at UPMC Chautauqua’s ICU. Without you, we wouldn’t have been able to have the time with her that we did. We are eternally grateful to have been able to be by her side, holding her hands, till the very end.
