Ricky W. Sandberg

Ricky W. Sandberg, 71, of Jamestown, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at UPMC Chautauqua. He was born in Jamestown on November 1, 1953, to the late Donald and Carol Erickson Sandberg.

A creative and hardworking man, Rick graduated from Falconer High School and attended Jamestown Community College. He swept floors at Ahlstrom-Schaffer which led him into the electrical apprenticeship program. His life’s work as an electrician with the IBEW took him all over the county and beyond; specifically, notable sights included Purina, Dunkirk Ice Cream, WCA Hospital and many Jamestown Factories.

In December of 1983, Rick started his own business, Rick Sandberg Electrician, where he enjoyed working on many housing construction jobs with his father-in-law and brothers-in-law, as well as various commercial and residential jobs in the area.

Both in and outside of his profession, Rick was known for his sense of humor. He had a passion for cars and enjoyed collecting and working on them. Rick also enjoyed the racetrack, snowmobiling, minibikes, skiing, the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, and especially family get togethers. Zion Covenant Church knew Rick as a faithful member and volunteer while, too, he volunteered at the Audubon Community Nature Center for a few years after retiring.

His loving spirit will be deeply missed by his wife, Diane Johnson Sandberg, whom he married August 13, 1983; his children, Rodney (Ashley) Sandberg of Ashville, Anna (Robert) Hamm of Kingston, NY, and Ryan (Irys) Sandberg of Jamestown; his grandchildren, Jack and Raegan Sandberg, Levi Hamm, and Ivory Sandberg; his brother, Steven (Pat) Sandberg; along with many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Sandberg.

The funeral service for Rick will be held at 11:00am Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Zion Covenant Church. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 4-7pm Friday at Lind Funeral Home. A private family burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
