Nancy Brace Grover
Nancy Brace Grover, 80, of Chapel Hill, NC, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2024, in North Carolina. She was born in Jamestown, NY on October 15, 1944, to the late John and Mary Hawkins Turk.
Nancy was a 1962 graduate of Frewsburg Central School. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science in Education degrees from the State University College at Fredonia. She taught for over thirty-five years at Gail N. Chapman Elementary in Randolph, retiring in 2002. She taught first grade for many years and loved teaching her students how to read.
Nancy loved traveling with her family, visiting many places in Europe, Alaska, and Hawaii. She spent many days visiting antique shops looking for special finds.
Nancy was very devoted to her children and grandchildren. She was always present cheering them on at their games and other activities. Later in her life she enjoyed living between their two homes with her grandchildren.
While living in Randolph, she attended the East Randolph United Methodist Church. She loved listening to the choir during services. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she took great joy in decorating her home and trees.
Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Lisa (Shane) White of Chapel Hill, NC; her son, E.J. (Cindy) Brace, of St. Louis, MO; step-children: Sherry Rustman of Laguna Hills, CA, Jody Ingersoll of Busti, Rodney Grover of West Valley, and Bradley Grover of Bemus Point; five grandchildren: Avery, Alexis, Madeline, Shady and Brace; sister, Mary Ann (Robert) Hayes; and brothers, John (Barbara) Turk and James Turk.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry Brace, who she married in October 1968 and passed away on December 13, 1984, her second husband, LeeRoy A. Grover, who she married in March 2001 and passed away, September 15, 2016; a brother, David Turk, and a sister, Grace Shannon.
A memorial service for Nancy will be held at 1:00pm on January 7, 2025, at Lind Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation for two hours prior to the service from 11-1pm on Tuesday at Lind’s. Burial will be in the Randolph Cemetery. The family is thankful to the many caregivers who helped to take care of her in both Missouri and in North Carolina.
