Janet Marie Liddell

Janet Marie Liddell passed away at the age of 87, on Saturday, January 4, 2025, in her home, Long Point Farms in Bemus Point, New York. She was born on August 18, 1937, to Lawrence and Evelyn (Johnson) Rasmussen. She is preceded in death by her husband Edward Gleason Liddell Sr. whom she was married to for 68 years.

Throughout Jan’s early life, she was a member of the congregation of the Jamestown Bethel Lutheran Church and a graduate of Jamestown High School. She married her husband Edward shortly after he returned home from the United States Army where he was a Corporal stationed in Japan. Together they purchased their farm in Bemus Point where they raised four children. They both worked hard together and had a passion for the land, farming, and animals. Over the years they had Belgian Draft horses, dairy, and beef cows. In addition, they made maple syrup, and they always had a vegetable garden.

Janet and Ed were members of the Farm Bureau and Jamestown Coin Club. They both enjoyed square dancing and going to the auction. Jan’s life not only included the farm. For over thirty years she was a bus driver for Bemus Point School System. Jan was an avid reader and often could be seen sitting in her favorite chair reading or completing a crossword puzzle. She absolutely loved Christmas. Her passion was the Maple Grove Dragons and watching her children and grandchildren play sports. She also followed all the sports on TV, especially Duke basketball games.

Janet’s life was her family, who she loved and adored. She is survived by her three sons: Edward (Gale) Liddell Jr., Todd (Becky) Liddell, Douglas Liddell and her daughter; Elizabeth Heberle. She is so proud of her eleven grandchildren: Daniel and Bradley Heberle, Joshua (Chantelle), Kiel (Angela), Logan (Katie), Skyler(Luciana) Liddell, Nickara (Christopher) Secky, Christina (Justin) Kinney, Michael Liddell, Victor and Corrine Cardinale; seven great-grandchildren: Paxton, Paesyn, Brock, Palmer, Sawyer, Hudson and Francis Liddell. Janet and Ed loved their Amish friends, whom they always considered their extended family.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 9th at the Lind Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bemus Point Fire Department or a charity of your choice.
