Harry A. Arrance II
Harry A. Arrance II, 83, of Mud Creek Road, Kennedy, Town of Poland, passed away Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at home after an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 13, 1941 in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Harry A. and Margaret P. (Price) Arrance. Harry was a 1959 graduate of Falconer High School. As a young man, he worked for the former Gold Star Super Market in Levant, Chautauqua County Highway Department for fiveyears and retired from Local 17 Operating Engineers Union after 30 years of service. After retirement, Harry worked part time at Zahm & Matson/Land Pro in Falconer.
Harry loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren and he enjoyed hunting. He was a life member of the Ellington Rod & Gun, served as past president and board member of the Greater Chautauqua County Credit Union, Town of Poland Recreational Committee and was a little league coach for his son Mark’s team.
He is survived by a daughter Laurie (Todd) Wissman of Gerry; son Mark (Teresa) Arrance of Kennedy; five grandchildren Matthew (Brianna) Arrance, Melinda (Trevor) Meder, Molly (Josh Watson) Arrance, Michael (Samantha)Wissman and Alex (Katie) Wissman; seven great-grandchildren Lucas, Leia and Paula Arrance., Miles Watson, Tate Meder, Roman Wissman and Wyatt Wissman; a sister Linda (Terry) White of Kennedy; as well as a brother-in-law; David (Rebecca) Miller of Kennedy; and sister-in-law, Rose Miller of Kennedy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Margaret, his wife of nearly 63 years, Nancy J. (Miller) Arrance, whom he married on Nov. 19, 1960 in the Kennedy United Methodist Church and who passed away on Feb. 4, 2023.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, Jan. 27, 2025 in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 to 11:00 am. Burial to follow at the Myrtle Cemetery, Clark’s Corners, Kennedy.
