Evelyn J. Suckow

She was born on August 8, 1930 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Robert L. and Alfhild E. Johnson Duell.

Evelyn was a 1948 graduate of Frewsburg Central School and earned her nursing degree from Jamestown Community College.

She was a member of Ivory Baptist Church and Trinity Church for many years.

Evelyn was a registered nurse working at various local doctor’s offices, the former Jamestown General Hospital, and WCA Hospital. After retiring, she worked in the church office at Trinity Church.

She enjoyed knitting and tole painting and in earlier years enjoyed time on the boat and square dancing.

Evelyn is survived by her three children: James Suckow of Frewsburg, Chris (Barbara) Suckow of Kennedy, Laurel (Steve) Schwartz of Jamestown; three grandchildren: Kelly (Sam) Elder, Alyssa Schwartz, Kyle Suckow; and one great-grandchild Thor Elder.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Coland L. Suckow, who passed away on March 5, 2014; a grandson Brian S. Suckow, who passed away on January 24, 2005; and a brother LaVerne Duell.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 18, 2025 in Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.

Friends will be received for one hour prior (10-11 am) to the service on Saturday in the funeral home.
