Eleanor E. Swanson

She was the widow of the late James E. “Ed” Swanson whom she married Aug. 1, 1953 and who died Jan. 31, 2006.

A Jamestown native, Eleanor was born Feb 15, 1930, the daughter of the late Carl and Mathilda Jacobson Olson. She was a 1948 graduate of Jamestown High School before attending Bryant & Stratton College. In early years she was employed as a secretary for several years by Marlin Rockwell prior to raising her family. Eleanor was also a member of the Martin Road Jehovah’s Witness Congregation.

Surviving are two children, Steven (Julie) Swanson of Randolph and Susan (Bruce) Terhune of Jamestown; two grandchildren, Anastasia Swanson of Jamestown and Christina (Nathaniel) Mead of Irving, NY; two great-grandchildren, Alexandria Mead and Lincoln Mead; as well as a niece, Judy Olson of Dunkirk, NY.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lavern and Robert Olson.

Following Eleanor’s wishes, no funeral service or visitation will be observed. Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
