Dennis G. Lewis

A lifelong area resident he was born April 24, 1949 in Dunkirk, NY, the son of the late George C. and Jean R. Crowell Lewis.

Denny attended Cassadaga Valley High School. In earlier years he was employed by Blackstone for 10 years, and was employed for over 40 years with the Chautauqua County Highway Department retiring in 2010.

Denny enjoyed spending time with his family fishing on the family pond, and four wheeling on the family property. He also enjoyed bowling, horseshoes and was an accomplished welder often helping local farmers repair their machinery. Denny had served as a councilman for the Town of Charlotte.

Surviving is his wife Elizabeth A. Wise Lewis whom he married May 12, 1984 in the Sinclairville Baptist Church; six children: Terry Lewis of Dunkirk, Melissa (Chris) Graves of Little Genesse, NY, Amy Lewis of Dunkirk, Dennis G. Lewis Jr. of Cherry Creek, Andrea Lewis (Jeremy Goldsmith) of Gerry, Alicia Lewis (Corey Bistoff) of Silver Creek; five grandchildren: Ryan and Rachel Webb, Cody Lewis, Zachary and Alexander Bistoff; three sisters: Denise (Wayne) York of Cherry Creek, Dawn Green of Cassadaga, Dorene Gustafson of Cherry Creek.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters: Donna Lewis, Debbie Lewis, Tammy Lewis; two brothers: Dale Lewis and Daryl Lewis.

A Celebration of Denny’s Life will be held at a later date. Visitation will not be observed.
