Clyde Walter Dickey

Clyde Walter Dickey

Clyde Walter Dickey, 87, of Jamestown, passed away with his loving wife by his side, on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Cleveland Clinic Specialty Hospital. He was born in Rienzi, MS on March 27, 1937, to the late George and Earline Stovall Dickey.

A genuinely kind and friendly man, Clyde graduated from Jamestown High School and served the country in the United States Army. He made his career as a machinist, first with Crescent Tools and, second, retiring from Cummins Engine.

The giving spirit Clyde possessed knew no bounds. Being a perfect match, Clyde gave his left kidney to his brother in 1968 at Cleveland Clinic. Wholeheartedly, he never drank, smoked, or cursed in protection of his right kidney for the rest of his years.

Being one of the patriarchs of his familial tribe, Clyde adored his family and the reunions that transpired. He was not a public person, per se, but found quiet ways to remain a giving community member. In return for his ministry to so many others, God fulfilled Clyde’s lifelong wishes when, delightedly, Mayor Kim Ecklund made short work of his dreams in Fall of 2024. Primarily, the mayor honored Clyde’s parents in deeming October 1 “George and Earline Dickey Day.” Additionally, she facilitated the removal of an acorn tree in front of the Dickey home that perpetually frustrated the neighborhood with the damages that ensued.

Clyde had an affection for cars. Specifically, he was known for driving around town in his 1967 silver t-top Corvette, being an anniversary edition; admittedly, he also loved Mercedes.

Clyde’s lavish soul will be deeply missed by his wife, Tamara Macklin Dickey, whom he married February 14, 2004; his children, Jerome (Elvia) Cromartie and Tiara (John Pearson) Cromartie; eight grandchildren, Jeniya, Andraya, Brycen, Maliyah, Aliviyah, Emrie, Karter Jerome, and Sevon; two brothers, George Earl of Colorado Springs, CO and Bobby of Jamestown; niece, Rochelle Dickey; and several nieces, great-nieces, and nephews.

Besides his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his brother, James Dickey, whom he donated his kidney to.

The funeral service for Clyde Walter Dickey will be at 11am Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Healing Word Ministries. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 4-6pm Friday at Lind Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service from 10-11am at church Saturday.

Flowers remained an integral part of Clyde’s giving nature as he, too, loved plants and flowers. This being said, floral arrangements are encouraged by the family.
