FORESTVILLE: Russell L. Newton, 69, of North Hill Road, Forestville, died Friday, December 27, 2024 at the Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo, following a valiant battle with cancer. He was born in Jamestown on February 8, 1955, the son of the late Edgar and Althea (Harvey) Newton.
He was a graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School Class of 1973 and worked as a Dimensional Metrologist for Cummins Engine in Lakewood for 29 years.
Russell was currently a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Gowanda, starting in Randolph in 1979 and was a member of the NRA. He enjoyed music and could play many different instruments, including the bagpipes. Russell & his late brother, Bryan, had a band together and enjoyed spending time on the boat together. He loved to hunt, fish & golf with friends.
Survivors include his niece Chelsea Newton of Sinclairville and several cousins. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Susan Ecker Newton, whom he married on May 21, 1986 on the farm in the Town of Villenova and who died July 15, 2015 and his brother Bryan Newton, who died April 9, 2022.
Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Thursday evening (January 2nd) from 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM. There will not be a funeral service. Private Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
