Fred Lawrence Wing Jr.
Fred Lawrence Wing Jr. passed away at his home in Wasilla, Alaska on December 13, 2024, with his family close by.
He was born Feb. 15, 1958 to Fred L. and Doloris Marsh Wing, in Westfield, New York.
He attended Stockton grade school and graduated from Cassadaga Valley Central High School, class of 1976. Upon graduation, he entered The United States Air Force. After his discharge in September 1980, he spent a brief time living in NY, then returned to Alaska spending forty-four years working at Elmendorf Air Force Base as a civilian from where he planned to retire on December 31, 2024.
His favorite pastime was model trains, especially N Scale. He was a thirty-five-year member of the Military Society of Model Railroad Engineers, of Anchorage. While in high school he was an avid roller skater. He also enjoyed camping and riding his four-wheeler.
Fred is survived by his father Fred Wing Sr. of Chesapeake, VA; mother, Doloris “Dottie” Muzzy of Jamestown, NY; his wife Crystal Marie Edwards; his children: Michael (Colleen) Newcity, Jordon Wing, Ashley (Joshua) Meeks, and Nathan (Crystal) Wing; one step daughter, Toby Crawford at home. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Austin, Connor and Oliva Newcity, Serenity and Kylee Meeks, all of Alaska; and two sisters, Sherry (late Philip) Shay and Maleia (Paul) Fetters, both of Jamestown, New York.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
