Claire Anderson
Our beloved mother, Grammie, and GG joined her parents, husbands and son in eternal rest on October 27, 2024, at the home of her daughter Suzanne in Duxbury MA where she’d resided with loving care for the last year.
Mom was born in Jersey City NJ and spent her youth in Riverside, Illinois. She loved growing up in Riverside, and was able to go back and visit the beloved “Village in the Forest” with her daughter Kathy in 2019, walking the halls of her parochial school and visiting her old neighborhood with fond memories.
Her family relocated back to NJ for her senior year of high school. A Cazenovia College graduate, Mom settled in Jamestown with our dad Mario and they built a beautiful family of six, while enjoying fun with Stewart Avenue and Chadwick Street neighbors who became lifelong friends.
She worked outside the home as an administrative assistant in several downtown businesses, including Carnahans. She was blessed to have married again, and she and Dan spent many happy years in Florida before returning to Jamestown in 2005. Mom had beautiful blue eyes that sometimes belied her salty sense of humor which kept us all giggling and which rounded out her personality. To hear her turn Bach prelude in C Major into the ragtime ditty she played to perfection on the piano was to truly know her fun side. She was blessed with a trio of sons-in-law who loved and cared for her until her final days. Her nine grandchildren and six great grands were her true joy and a source of inspiration.
She is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Marion, brother Joe, husbands Mario and Dan, and her son Steven.
Survivors include her sister Joan Raney of Minnesota, sister-in-law Sharon Ricketts of California and their families, her daughters Patty (Steve) Hober of Boynton Beach, FL, Suzanne (Allen) Walker of Duxbury, MA, Kathy (Bob) Kline of Overland Park, KS, her grandchildren, Jessica and Matthew Hazel, Michael and Maggie Hober, Taylor and Josh Schlotterback, Jon and Lisa Domenici, Casey and John Lippitt, McKenzie Walker, Evan and Danielle Kline, Justin Kline, Jeremy Kline and Kelsey Stephan (fiance), daughter-in-law Michelle Domenici, as well as her great-grandchildren Gianna Domenici, Josie and Mollie Hazel, Beckham and Brooks Schlotterback, and GG’s newest great granddaughter born November 9th, Lucy Hober. She is also survived by her niece Marlene (David) Joy of Jamestown, NY who for many years was always there to love and care for her, along with many nieces and nephews, her step-daughter, Lori (Shawn) Hause, granddaughter Nacole Benson, and great grandsons, (Chase and Cole Benson). Mom is also survived by a host of dear friends, many spanning nearly 70 years of laughter and good times. Her friends became family, and her daughters are thankful for their enrichment to her life.
A celebration of her life will take place in Jamestown at a date to be determined, along with interment of ashes. The family wishes to thank Cranberry Hospice for their care and compassion.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cranberry Hospice and Palliative Care (36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326 Plymouth, MA 02360) or to The American Cancer Society.
