Randall “Randy” Morris

Randall “Randy” Morris

Randall “Randy” Morris, 75, of Jamestown, passed away Friday November 8, 2024, at UPMC Chautauqua surrounded by his family.

He was born February 19, 1949, in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Arthur and Mary Voit Morris.

Randy was a 1967 graduate of Jamestown High School. Following high school he attended Jamestown Community College.

Randy worked in the construction trade for Laborer’s Local 600 in the early 70’s. He then moved to Ohio to start his trucking career, driving for Nick Strimbu Trucking. He later journeyed to California where he lived in Sacramento for a short time doing roofing work. He eventually returned to Jamestown and was employed by Valeo Engine Cooling in the late 80’s for several years. He returned to trucking over the road working for numerous companies such as Spirit Express, Green Highlands, J&H Transportation, Path Trucking, Stone Trucking, and Morris and Son’s, as well as Weinstein and Dunham’s Trucking until his retirement due to an injury.

He enjoyed riding motorcycles and loved to sing and play his guitar. Bob Dylan and The Byrd’s were his early influences in music. He was in many rock bands in the late 60’s and early 70’s and would sit in with others whenever he had the chance. Randy could be coaxed, to “breakout his guitar” and sing at many parties and campfires that lasted until the sun came up. His comical attraction to anything “skull and crossbones” dated back to his early days. It became his lifelong, fun, trademark. He will be remembered as a likeable character with a good heart that couldn’t be hurried for anything. He enjoyed life on the road and was considered a lone wolf who did things his way, at his speed. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and many friends and acquaintances.

Randy is survived by his son Shannin Morris of California, his daughter Destiny Samlock of North Carolina, his brother Ralph (Brenda) Morris of Jamestown, his sister Linda Morris of Falconer, niece, April (Jason) Steenburn of Jamestown, great nephew, Bailey and great niece Ava Steenburn of Jamestown, and lifelong friends David “Bags” and Nita Wennberg.

The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Green and UPMC Chautauqua for taking such good care of Randy.

A memorial service will be held at 12 pm Wednesday November 20, 2024, in the Lind Funeral Home. Friends will be received two hours prior to the service from 10 am to 12 Noon at the funeral home.
