Joyce Pillsbury

A lifelong resident of Chautauqua County, she was born in the family farmhouse in Busti NY, a daughter of the late Francis and Elna (Nelson) Jones.

Joyce was a graduate of Jamestown High School in 1945 and enrolled in Alfred State Extension programs thereafter. Over the years she worked at Jamestown General Hospital, Jamestown Journal Press and 1st National Bank. Later in life she enjoyed her neighborhood Avon business which kept her in touch with many friends and family.

She enjoyed years working in her garden and shared her joy with kindred spirits along the way.

She is survived by her loving and dedicated son Craig Pillsbury, nieces, nephews and cousins including Terri Linamen (Ronald) of Lakewood NY, James Brown III (Richelle) of Portland, Maine, Michelle Clauson of Key West Fl, Connie Jay Slagle of Rochester NY, Karen Willison (Jeff) of Colorado, Bruce Slagle MD of Cortland NY, Larry Nelson (Debbie) of Florida, Tammy Samuelson (Richard) of Jamestown, NY, Tory Arvidson (Beverly) of Bemus Point, NY, Norman (Marlene) Norlander and Melvin Norlander both of Jamestown NY.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in death by her loving husband of over 30 years Otis (Bud) Pillsbury assistant Fire Chief in Jamestown NY, her sister Phyllis Clauson (Merlin) of Lakewood NY, Connie Slagle (Nelson) of Rochester, and Roy Nelson (Bea) of Jamestown.

The family would like to thank the home care team for their devoted service and loving care they provided to the family over the years.

The funeral will be held at 1 pm Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home where friends will be received for one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Busti Cemetery.
