Dawayne J. “Train” Vanderwork
Dawayne J. “Train” Vanderwork, 51, of 3217 Baker Street, Ext, died Sunday November 3, 2024, in his home.
He was born March 16, 1973, in Passiac, NJ.
He was a 1992 graduate of Jamestown high School where he excelled in football and went on to play at Merced Junior College.
He was employed by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office as a corrections officer in the jail in Mayville.
Train loved the game of football and shared his passion by coaching Jamestown high School freshman team and Westside Panthers, was owner of the Fort Worth Avengers semi pro team of the Texas United Football League and founder of the former Jamestown Chiefs.
Surviving is his father Terry Vanderwork of Ohio; his mother Donna Mattaliano Morgan of North Carolina; his biological father Cecil Huffman of North Carolina; a daughter Alexis Vanderwork of Clymer; step daughter Lillian Johnson of Clymer; three sisters Melissa Vanderwork of Newton, NC, Nina Vanderwork of Sherman and Jennifer Haskins of Sherman; niece Katelyn Bilodeau of North Carolina; great niece Delilah Bilodeau of Noth Carolina; Paw Randy Rowley of Texas and stepmother Gloria Huffman of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by a nephew Mason Vanderwork and an aunt Helen Rivera.
The funeral will be held at 11 am Saturday in Bemus Point Methodist Church.
Friends will be received from 1-3 and 5-7 pm Friday in the Lind Funeral Home.
