Adeline E ” Addie” Maltby Meyers
WESTFIELD, NY- Adeline E ” Addie” Maltby Meyers, 95, of Westfield, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Corry Manor in Corry, PA. She was born April 5, 1929, in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of the late Wesley and Edna Bosold Maltby.
She had worked for the Chautauqua County Social Services department in Mayville. Addie was a member of the Westfield United Methodist Church, the Portage Trail Riders Club, the Westfield Moose and Ladies of The Moose, and a founding member of the Westfield Pinochle Card Club. She had earned her small plane pilot’s license alongside her son Daniel and enjoyed riding horses with her daughter Susan, golfing with her daughter Janet, flower gardening, reading, and spending time with her family. In later years she also cross-country skied, occasionally skiing from Mayville to Westfield after work along the old railroad line. After retirement, Addie and her late husband, Ralph, opened a mail order business, “The Collector’s Shelf of Books” and “Crystal Mountain Prisms”, and traveled to many antique shows around the country.
Addie is survived by her three children, Daniel (Kathleen) Meyers of Westfield, NY, Susan Pellegrino of Panama, NY, and Janet (Robert) Samoly of Olmsted Falls, OH, three grandchildren, Joanna (Bill) Schloman, Sarah (Adam) Lindquist, and Katherine (Jeff) Suraf, five great-grandsons, Billy, Jack, Landen, Wiley and Mason, one sister, Shirley Rerat of Edina, MN, one brother, Robert Maltby of Cocoa Beach, FL and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph C. Meyers, a brother, Richard Maltby, a son-in-law, Anthony Pellegrino, and her lovely dog, Roxie.
At Addie’s request, no public services will be observed. A private burial in the Westfield Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
