Herbert “John” White Jr.

Herbert “John” White Jr., 89, of Clymer, NY, passed away on September 15, 2024.

He was born May 29, 1935, to the late Herbert and Lucy White. John was born and raised in Clymer, NY where he went to school and graduated, married the love of his life, Loujean (Legters) White in 1958, raised his family and spent a lifetime on the family farm.

Along with farming, John had a passion for serving his community. He was on the Clymer Central School Board of Education for two terms and served as a Town of French Creek board member. John found most fulfillment when he was serving the church, he was a lifelong member of the Clymer Methodist Church, were he taught Sunday School, was a youth group leader, trustee and served as Chairman of the Ad Board. There was hardly a Sunday, you did not see him in church, worshiping and enjoying fellowship. Later in life, he took to watching church from home and enjoyed the Gaither Bands gospel worship.

John enjoyed being out in the sunshine, whether it be driving tractor, doing fieldwork, being in a garden or just sitting under the tree, a smile was never far from his face during these times. On occasion John enjoyed traveling – most memorable trips taken by train across the country and to see God’s wonders, these trips were always accompanied by his wife, Loujean.

One thing that could always bring a sparkle to his eye was his family, John was blessed with a large family that brought him immense joy and pride. He leaves behind his wife, Loujean, of 66 years, his sons David (Brenda) White, of Clymer, Randall (Jackie) White, of Newtown, PA, and Douglas (Lisa) White of Clymer. Eight grandchildren, Greg (Stephanie) White, Kathy (Brody) Howard, Karen (Brandon) Foster, Samuel White, Justin (Claire) White, Jacob White, Kaitlyn (Adler) Roth, and Matthew White, along with 9 great grandchildren. John would pray for each of his family members before falling asleep each night, these prayers were felt by each and will be missed.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Clymer Methodist Church, 573 Clymer-Sherman Rd, Clymer NY, on Saturday Sept. 21, 2024, with visitation from ten o’clock until the time of the service at noon. Pastor Kevin Costner will officiate. Burial will be at the Holland Cemetery, Clymer NY with a celebration of life lunch after at the Clymer Methodist Church.
