Ellen M. Munella

She was born May 19, 1945, in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of the late John and Phyllis Veator Healy.

Ellen was a graduate of Jamestown High School and continued her education at Fredonia State College where she earned her bachelor’s degree.

She was a communicant of St. James Parrish, member and past president of both the Zonta Club of Jamestown and the Jamestown Teachers Association. In addition, she was on NEA of NY board of directors. Ellen was an avid reader and loved playing card games.

She worked as a substitute teacher for Jamestown Public School District for over 10 years before accepting a position as an elementary school teacher for over 35 years, retiring in 2006.

Surviving is her husband Robert D. Munella whom she married October 30, 1971; her son Benjamin Munella of Denver, CO; her two sisters Eileen Healy of Jamestown and Erin (Ed) Lyons of Mechanicville, NY and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brother John Healy and her sister Susan Baran.

A Memorial Mass will be held 2 pm Friday September 6, 2024, in St. James Catholic Church. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 pm Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home.
