Patricia A. Rugg
Patricia A. Rugg, 79, of 888 Hunt Road, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at UPMC Chautauqua.
She was born Nov. 30, 1944 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Richard and Virginia Maxson Rugg, and was a graduate of Jamestown High School.
Patricia’s late mother, Virginia, was one of four founding members of what was to become The Resource Center which had its beginning in Brooklyn Square as a sheltered workshop. Patricia was one of the first four members of the group there.
Patricia enjoyed bowling, going to dances, playing Bingo and was always well put together as her appearance was very important to her. She loved Engelbert Humperdinck music and was able to once attend a live concert where she sang every word of every song.
Surviving are two nieces, Karie (John) Carlson of Jamestown, and Kathy (Richard) Crawford of Cooperstown, PA; a nephew, Tim Seymour of Port St. Lucie, FL; seven great-nieces and nephews: Rhonda Prusak, Kendra Carlson, Olivia Grekalski, Kelsey Newton, Tim Lee, Nathaniel Lee, and Heidi Trochez; as well as all of Patricia’s family at her group home.
Along with her parents, Patricia is preceded in death by a sister, Joan (Lauritz) Nelson, and a niece, Kelly Seymour.
“Oh I believe there are angels among us to show us how to live, teach us how to give. To light us with the light of love ”
Our family has grown with an angel among us. A forever child, Pat taught 4 generations how to live a life of patience, compassion and forgiveness.
Our family will keep her memory alive in days ahead. We will laugh when we see maraschino cherries, watch Mike Wazowski – Disney, dance when YMCA is played, compliment people wearing quirky earrings, run from alligators, feel lucky to yell bingo and keep a stick of butter on every holiday table.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 30 in the Lind Funeral Home, led by Rev. Kevin Costner, pastor of Clymer Methodist Church. Friends will be received from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday prior to the service. Burial will be in Lakewood’s Bentley Cemetery.
The family is very thankful for the love and care Patricia received over many years. Memorials may be made to The Resource Center, 200 Dunham Ave., Jamestown, NY 14701.
