Richard A. Snyder, 81, of Jamestown, formerly of California passed away Friday (May 10, 2024) in the Star Hospice House, Lakewood, NY.
He was born August 14, 1942 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Russell and Elnor M. Einhouse Snyder.
Richard was a graduate of Dunkirk High School and attended Jamestown Business College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1963 to 1965 in the Vietnam War. Prior to retirement he was employed by Glazed Masonry in California as a Sales Representative.
Surviving is his daughter Sherri L. (Kevin) Melson of Falconer, a son Johnathan J. (Laura) Snyder of Mohegan Lake, NY; a granddaughter Marissa (Ronald) Miller of Bemus Point; three great grandchildren: Evelyn, Rosalie, and Remington Miller. Richard left California in the summer of 2019 with his daughter, Sherri so that he could spend his final years with her and his great grandkids. A few weeks after arriving that summer, Richard’s granddaughter Rosalie was born on his birthday.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Cathy Smith, Chaplain of Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care will officiate.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
