Walter David Shaffer, 86, of Falconer passed away Monday, March 4, 2024, in his home.
He was born June 1, 1937 in Brookville, PA, the son of the late John Fred Shaffer and Hazel Mae Boozer Shaffer.
Dave attended Brookville High School and prior to retirement was employed by MRC-SKF for 47 years. In earlier years Dave was employed as a taxi cab driver.
He enjoyed racing at Stateline Speedway, bowling and was a member of several bowing leagues. Dave also enjoyed playing his acoustic guitar and swimming at the Brookville Dam or YMCA. He was a social member of the Samel Derby American Legion.
Surviving are two children: Sue (Chris) Pischera of Kennedy, David Shaffer of Jamestown; seven grandchildren: Angel Davis, Nicole Shaver, Ricky Shaver, Amanda Pischera, Shannon Reynolds, Kristie LaRusch, Bobby Shaffer; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley M. Smith Shaffer whom he married July 7, 1967, who died July 19, 2008; a daughter Debra J. Cox Shaffer; a son Gerald Shaffer; grandchild Austin Smith; three brothers: John, Robert, and Bud Shaffer; two sisters: Dorothy VanDale and Phyllis Shaffer.
The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Dave’s funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer.
