Gladys Behrens-Mitchell, 69, of Lakewood, NY passed away on March 6, 2024 at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab Facility after a long fight withDementia.
She was born on October 3, 1954 to Darleen (Schulz) and Arnold Behrens in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. When she was 12 they moved to Wisconsin where the rest of her family resided.
Gladys married the late John Mitchell from Lakewood, NY in 1996, where they resided for 24 years until his death in June of 2020.
She was an avid baker, loved to garden, canning vegetables, sewing and riding her motorcycle. She was a nurse at various locations in the Jamestown area, including Lutheran Social Services, WCA and Tanglewood.
She was a member of the Lakewood volunteer fire department and the former Amvets post.
She is survived by her children, Heather (Steve) Kibbe from Dunkirk, NY and Christopher (Lyz) Stalter from Port St. Lucie, Florida. She has one brother Michael (Sally) Behrens from Muskego, Wisconsin. Her grandchildren Jared and Lily Kibbe, Raiden and Kiya Stalter.
She is predeceased by her husband John Mitchell, her mother Darleen Behrens and her father Arnold Behrens.
No funeral arrangements will be held in this area. Her final resting place will be in Wisconsin with her mother and father.
