DEWITTVILLE- Cindy Reid Norton, 67, of Dewittville, NY, and formerly of Westfield, NY, passed away at her home, on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, following a lengthy illness. She was born August 18, 1956, in Westfield, NY, the daughter of the late Donald and Betty Eggert Reid.
Cindy was a 1974 graduate of Westfield Academy and Central School. She then attended Columbia State Community College in Tennessee where she earned a Veterinarian Tech Degree. She returned to Westfield, where she worked for several Veterinarians in Chautauqua County, including Westfield Veterinary Hospital.
Cindy was a member and Deaconess of the Westfield First Presbyterian Church, served on the Board of Directors for the North Lake Recreational Center in the early 2000s, and was an Assistant Boy Scout and Cub Scout leader. She was also a leader in the 4-H Horse Program, a Travel Soccer Coach and Referee, a T-Ball Coach, and participated in many Quilting Guilds. She loved animals, gardening, quilting, and spending time with her family.
Cindy is survived by her husband, John Douglas “Doug” Norton, of Dewittville, whom she married on February 7, 1981, two sons, Ryan (Kristina) Norton of Westfield, and Andrew (Montanna) Norton of Dewittville, three sisters; Donna (Neal) Watkins of Azle, TX, Marsha (Kenny) Leaf of Sauquoit, NY, and Janet Reid of Westfield, NY, as well as four grandchildren; Adam, Tristin, Alex and Addison, along with many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 11 AM on Friday, March 15th at the First Presbyterian Church of Westfield (49 S Portage St), with the family receiving friends for two hours (9AM-11AM) before the service, at the church. The Rev Kristin Woodring will officiate. A private family burial will be in the St James RC Cemetery in Westfield, NY.
