Raymond G. “Ray” Mesler Sr.

Raymond G. “Ray” Mesler Sr., 76, of Gerry passed away unexpectedly Monday (February 12, 2024) in UPMC Hamot Hospital, Erie PA.

He was born November 25, 1947 in Bradford, PA, the son of the late Gilbert Townsend Mesler and Pauline Anthony Dodge.

Ray attended school in Bradford and graduated from Southwestern High School. He was a machinist for many years, before taking several trade classes at JCC to become a tool & die maker which was his occupation at MRC/SKF for over 45 years before retiring in 2013.

Ray loved being outdoors and working around the house. If you couldn’t find him chances are he was outside mowing lawn, raking leaves, or finding a tree to cut down. Ray had several hobbies such as bicycle racing, canoeing, riding dirt bikes with his brother and his best friend Bill, attending auctions, and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren who meant the world to him.

Surviving is his wife Christine E. Mesler (Hyldahl) whom he married March 3, 1990 and has been with for 46 loving years; two sons: Raymond “Rusty” Mesler Jr. of Riverside, CA, Randy Mesler Sr. of Jamestown, a daughter Elissa (Derek) Palmer of Rochester, NY; five grandchildren: Shyann Mesler (Adam), Ellen Mesler (Tim), Paige Mesler (Jon), Kieth Mesler, Maverick Palmer; six great grandchildren: Chloe Wilson (Chase), Hailey Wilson, Cole Hepler, Layla Mesler, Chase Cornelius, Jade Perrin; a brother Ronald Mesler (Kathy) of Bradford, PA; two sisters: Cindy (Brad) Woods of Bradford, PA, Kelly Mesler of Celeron; a brother-in law William (Jodell) Hyldahl and several aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and life-long friends.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson Randy Mesler Jr. and his maternal grandmother Bertha McCarty.

Friends will be received Thursday (February 22, 2024) from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Falconer Funeral Home.
