Phyllis I. Skinner
Phyllis I. Skinner, 84 of Cassadaga, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024 at home after a lengthy illness.
Born June 15, 1939 in the Town of Villenova a daughter of the late Herbert Lee and Irene Mildred Peterson Howard.
Phyllis was employed at former Van Raalte, Silver Creek, but most of her career was dedicated to the Pine Valley Central School District for over 25 years as a bus driver, custodian and cafeteria worker.
She was a 4-H leader with Valley Saddle-ites and instructed horse riding and dog obedience. Phyllis was a member of the Villenova Grange and Chautauqua County Antique Equipment Assn. She enjoyed , especially her flowers, sewing and spending time with family and attending her grandsons’ sporting events.
Wife of 63 years to Charles E. Skinner who she married Sept. 3, 1960 in Hamlet United Methodist Church; mother of Herbert D. Skinner and Kathy Wise both of Cassadaga; grandmother of, Nicholas, Derek (Taylor Kochanowski), Brandon (Kari), Tyler and Zachary Wise; great-grandmother of, Payton, Ella, Weston, Carson, Jaxson and Kenley; sister of Mavis (late Allen) Stearns and the late Elenor (Robert of Bloomfield) Anderson. Also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation 1-5 p.m. Sunday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville with the funeral service 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. Burial in Christian Meeting House Cemetery, Arkwright.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care or Cassadaga VFD.
