Charlie O. Peterson

Charlie O. Peterson, 84, of Frewsburg, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023 peacefully at home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

He was born February 15, 1939 in Jamestown, a son of the late Ford W. and Gertrude M. Oliver Peterson.

He was a 1957 graduate of Frewsburg Central School.

Charlie was a self-employed dairy farmer alongside his bride of 65 years. He always said “I never work a day in my life because I love what I am doing.” He enjoyed traveling, working on the farm, and coon hunting with his sons and beloved coon dogs for several years.

He was a lifetime member of the New York Holstein Association. He was also a member of the Chautauqua County 4-H as a youth, Kennedy Grange, Farm Bureau, and Upstate Niagara Milk Cooperative.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 65 years, Maxine J. Husted Peterson, who he married November 29, 1958; three sons: Mark (Juli) Peterson of Kennedy, Martin (Melody) Peterson and Michael (Susan) Peterson, both of Frewsburg; a daughter Marie (Richard) Warner, of Frewsburg; eleven grandchildren: Carrie Swanson, Matthew Peterson, Tristan Peterson, Maxwell Peterson, Christopher Peterson, Benjamin Peterson, Dakota Peterson, Mikayla Gauger, Rachel Bentham, Devon Warner, Bryanna Warner; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Harold Peterson and a sister Betty J. Krofka.

A private family event will be held to honor his life and legacy.
